The Scene in Glendale was recently remodeled, just in time for this week's Club Place-n-Time, a house-packing haven for the east side's indie-rock impresarios. Headliners the Deadly Syndrome have seen a steady rise in attention recently, from Hot Hot Heat frontman Steve Bays' shout-out in Rolling Stone to their Sugarcult-member produced debut album, The Ortolan, a spiky, bell-encrusted bundle of melody and ripening adolescence. Retro-bluesy groove slingers Rumspringa kick off the evening, with DJs Heather Thompson and Frog warming up the masses.
