Music: Rock/Pop Pinback w/ MC Chris

The Avalon hosts a double bill of hype and harmony tonight, set off by Adult Swim superstar MC Chris, a helium-voiced rapper whose endearingly geeky tunes have titles like "White Kids Love Hip-Hop" and "Nrrrd Grrrl." (Fact: Chris grew up in Libertyville, Illinois, where, weirdly enough, he used to mix it up with Rage Against the Machine's Tom Morello.) Tonight's headliners, wintry duo Pinback, are a bit more serious, playing reliably bittersweet, nocturnal-minded pop songs with clean, complex arrangements.
