Eve Wood is the toast of Culver City this month with a breakthrough exhibition of mixed-media work on canvas. Wood leaves her former quiet reserve behind, employing a fresh, saturated palette, quirky, expressive line work, and distended figures and perspectives. Her overgrown gardens and individuals seemingly flash-frozen at moments of profound self-regard strike an anarchic balance between intimate narratives and bizarre symbolism.
