It's still four years away, but 2012 is the focus of quite a bit of expectation, especially if you happen to be well-versed in ancient Mesoamerican calendars. Their "long count calendar" runs out in December 2012, leading many to predict a great planetary shift with dire implications for the global environment and economy. With lectures on everything from Mayan history to the Incan medicine wheel, the 2012 Conference dips into the realm of arcane, but the panel of distinguished professors, filmmakers, historians, and spiritual experts aims to also pique curiosity, share knowledge, and — perhaps most importantly — prepare society for the wild ride that may be to come.
