Note: Here Is Always Somewhere Else screens Sat Mar 29, Sat Apr 12 & Sat Apr 26 (7pm).
More laboratory than art gallery, Telic Arts Exchange stages collaborative multimedia projects that invite curious audiences along for the ride. Its current exhibition, Gravity Art, features both established and emerging artists who manipulate everyday perception with paradigm-shifting, interactive media. The show is curated by Rene Daalder, who directed 2007's Here Is Always Somewhere Else, a documentary on Dutch conceptualist Bas Jan Ader. Before his mysterious disappearance at sea in 1975, Ader laid the groundwork for subsequent generations of progressive video artists from California to his native Holland, and the work included in Gravity Art contextualizes and responds to his legacy.
