Wangechi Mutu is known for her powerful, unsettling institutional critiques on colonialism and feminist art — sculptural installations and collages on Mylar depicting idealized, objectified female figures. Tonight, she discusses her work at the museum, addressing themes similarly raised by the recently opened Kara Walker exhibition. Mutu's work is also featured in a solo exhibition at Culver City's Susanne Vielmetter Gallery beginning this weekend.
