A native New Yorker travels back in time to '60s-era Harlem. A writer in Rome ruminates on the characters of Jorge Luis Borges. These are the surreal premises for two of the short stories in Black Clock, CalArts' acclaimed, semi-annual literary journal. (Previous contributors include literary stars such as Miranda July, Rick Moody, and Aimee Bender.) Tonight's launch party for the eighth issue — "Nomads" — features catered munchies and readings from local contributors including Alex Austin, George Melrod, Joanna Scott, and Lisa Teasley.
