When Nada Surf wrote the jokey 1990s teen anthem, "Popular," they never could have imagined the roller-coaster ride that would ensue. The Brooklyn-based trio ended up in the trenches of the fickle music industry, refusing Elektra Records' demands for another radio-friendly novelty and paying the price with years of obscurity. Nada Surf subsequently pulled an indie-rock Lazarus routine, releasing a string of critically beloved albums of winsome, low-key power pop. They've just recently put out Lucky, their fifth full-length studio album, to more positive reviews. LA-based smarty-pants rockers Sea Wolf — the brainchild of Irving's Alex Brown Church — share the stage tonight.
