Music: Rock/Pop Bon Iver w/ Phosphorescent and White Hinterland
-
- Bon Iver
Following the breakup of his old band, DeYarmond Edison, Justin Vernon, the humble genius behind one-man band Bon Iver, holed up in a remote Wisconsin cabin to write and record the bulk of his self-released debut, For Emma, Forever Ago. Vernon's four wintry months of solitude inspired a gorgeous acoustic record, full of close-mic'd guitar, experimental percussion, gently droning reverb, and Vernon's oft-layered, affecting falsetto. Bon Iver, a corruption of the French phrase for "good winter," signed with indie label Jagjaguwar last year, re-releasing For Emma just last month. Opening the evening are similarly stripped-down folk acts, Phosphorescent and White Hinterland.
