Cincinnati's Foxy Shazam play the kind of good-time college-radio honky-tonk that only white boys raised on both punk and Motown can pull off. If you aren't prepared to get your dance-floor spazz on, best stay away. Tonight, the Shazam open for Alaska's Portugal. The Man, who take the stage with a curious brand of intense, prettily persuasive pop rock. The trio's asymmetrical compositions blend succinct, speedy percussion, soulful vocals, and unguarded enthusiasm. They're as warm and dirty as a lumberjack's flannels, and as crisp as a snow-chilled PBR at a northern-lights party.
