Music: Rock/Pop José Gonzaléz w/ Mia Doi Todd

José Gonzaléz created a nice stir when his debut LP, Veneer, hit in 2003 — in part because some couldn't quite figure how a fellow named Gonzaléz came from Sweden, in part because he's a damn good songwriter. Since then, he's worked on The Garden with electro-loungers Zero 7 and released his second solo record, In Our Nature, last fall. The record offers more of Gonzaléz's signature hushed vocals over intricate, classical-guitar picking — you'd never know he started off in Swedish hardcore bands. He's joined tonight by LA-based singer/songwriter Mia Doi Todd, a favorite of the KCRW crowd, thanks to her bare-bones folk. The woman of many hats (she's also a poet, painter, and dancer) celebrates the recent release of her seventh album, Gea.
