A&R curmudgeon Simon Cowell has been known to dish out a compliment once every blue moon, one of which was aimed at South Wales native Paul Potts. A true Cinderfella story, Potts was a mobile-phone salesman until recently — he takes the stage at the Wiltern just a year later, all thanks to Cowell's Britain's Got Talent TV show. At his televised audition, Potts prompted (happy) tears and brought down the house with his intimate rendition of Puccini's Nessun Dorma, which sealed his fate as the new Pavarotti on the block. This guy's got some pipes.
