Hef. The single syllable alone conjures up images of smoking jackets and decadent mansion parties. Exploring that imagery, a group of artists at JAIL Gallery examines the influence of Hugh Hefner, the man who made the sex industry accepable for high society. The show also plays on the fact that Playboy has come to be seen as nostalgic — even innocent at times — compared to modern pornography. Curated by painter Chris Pate, the exhibition includes work in a variety of media by Susan Anderson, Jason David, and Peter Lograsso, among others.
