Music: Rock/Pop Homenaje feat. Roy Ayers, Najite, and J.Rocc
-
- Homenaje
Roy Ayers is America's premier living vibraphone player. His genre-jumping career spans four decades and has encompassed jazz, funk, world beat, and, since the advent of sampling, hip-hop. Classic recordings include the soundtrack to Pam Grier's 1973 film Coffy and an album with Fela Kuti. Ayers, who recently released two volumes of rarities and a collection of remixes, lights up Crash Mansion tonight as part of ArtDontSleep's ongoing soul sessions. The party also features smoldering DJ sets from J.Rocc and live percussion from Afrobeat legend Tony Allen, the former Fela Kuti drummer more recently known for his role in the Good, the Bad & the Queen.
