Film LACMA Muse Young Directors' Night

A struggling filmmaker trying to get a first film off the ground could do a lot worse than this for an audience. At the LACMA Muse Young Directors' Night, a USC film-studies department chair, an editor from Back Stage magazine, and LA Times entertainment writer Pete Hammond help judge eight short films to determine the winner of the coveted "Young Director" trophy. (The audience also has a say.) Along with the mini-awards show, there's a prize raffle, live performances, appetizers, and an open bar, all further ensuring that you cheer on the bright-eyed hopefuls with gusto.
