New Beverly Cinema, beloved Hollywood home of niche films, puts together a mean double feature with The Royal Tenenbaums and The Darjeeling Limited. Tenenbaums, Wes Anderson's follow-up to Rushmore, gave the director a huge popularity boost and spawned a cornucopia of Tenenbaum family-themed Halloween costumes. Anderson's fifth feature, Darjeeling, makes good use of the director's stable actors (Luke Wilson, Jason Schwartzman, Anjelica Huston) to present family dysfunction against the kaleidoscopic backdrop of India. The tale of three disconnected brothers riding the rails brings Anderson's colorful visuals into full form — though judging by Halloween 2007, Darjeeling is the de facto weaker film of the two, at least costume-wise.
