More Flavor: City Gem Pavilion of Wings

Pavilion of Wings returns to the Natural History Museum for the exhibition's tenth anniversary. Now, anyone jealous of the Shins' experience in Mexico can walk among hundreds of free-flying butterflies in a temporary habitat constructed on the South Lawn. Over 30 species flutter around, including Monarchs, American Painted Ladies, and state butterfly the California Dogface. Four species are up for adoption, one of which is the classic Viceroy. But don't get too attached to any one insect in particular; the inside scoop from the museum is that spiders serve as the clean-up crew for these short-life-spanned beauties when the exhibit ends.
