Music: Rock/Pop Apocalyptica

The four cellists making up Helsinki's Apocalyptica first emerged as a Metallica cover band back in 1996. Now down to three classically trained cellists — all alumni of the world-renowned Sibelius Academy, alma mater of the LA Philharmonic's Esa-Pekka Salonen — Apocalyptica deliver a menacing assault of hair-raising cello rock, augmented by touring drummer Mikko Sir. Their most recent release, Worlds Collide, features collaborations with Stone Sour and Slipknot lead singer Corey Taylor, Lacuna Coil's Cristina Scabbia, 3 Days Grace frontman Adam Gontier, and legendary drummer Dave Lombardo.
