Playing hearty pop-punk transposed from the pre-emo age, Jerseyites the Gaslight Anthem draw as much from boot-clad badasses like the Dropkick Murphys as they do from the Boss. Recent tours with Against Me and the Bouncing Souls have bolstered their cred with both the old guard and the heart-on-sleeve set — and inspired more than a few wayward punks to return to the fold. Sure, their aesthetic is dated, but it still has an edgy, populist appeal that evokes the warm memories of raised fists, drunken nights, and a thousand pits past.
