Jeffrey Hatcher's critically acclaimed comedy takes it first LA bow at Theatre Theatre's brand-new Rogue Machine stage. Inspired by a real Shakespearean-era actor named Edward Kynaston, Hatcher's play travels to post-Restoration London where King Charles II has forbidden men from playing female roles. His career dead in the water, the flamboyant show pony faces an uncertain future — and the ridiculous reprisal of his signature role (Othello's Desdemona) by a female upstart. Relevant and biting, Compleat Female Stage Beauty surveys gender, sexuality, and Hollywood politics. (A script is currently being prepped for a feature production.)
