German artist, actor, author, and filmmaker Heinz Emigholz offers a love letter to Los Angeles with his film Schindler's Houses. The documentary charts the work and influence of architect Rudolph Schindler, but Emigholz's loose style turns it into a meditation on the relationship between our city's buildings and their surroundings. The film is a part of the director's 24-year project Photography and Beyond, which examines creativity's many incarnations, and screens tonight as part of LA Filmforum's ongoing multi-venue Emigholz survey.
