Music: Rock/Pop The Dirty Dozen Brass Band

The Dirty Dozen Brass Band have been churning out bluesy, swingin' albums since 1984, but their 2006 release, What's Going On, stands at the pinnacle of the group's career. On that recording, the horn blowers brought in rappers Chuck D, G. Love, and Guru to vocalize the frustration and angst felt over Hurricane Katrina and the aftermath wrought on the band's hometown of New Orleans. In their 20-plus years together, the Dirty Dozen have released as many albums as their name suggests, and have recorded session work for everyone from Aaron Neville and Elvis Costello to Modest Mouse. They pop into town tonight before heading back into the studio.
