Art Michelle Lopez and Vishal Jugdeo

Michelle Lopez and Vishal Jugdeo, both making their solo debuts in Los Angeles, meditate on the meaning of objects in human life. Lopez's The Year We Made Contact comprises a series of sculptures linked by twigs and branches, fragments of nature devoid of historical indication or personal reference. Jugdeo's Surplus Room, in contrast, is a multi-channel video and sound installation that examines the production process in a range of settings, from the domestic to the labor-divided industrial. Though their methods diverge, the two artists both make compelling statements about producing art.
