Michelle Lopez and Vishal Jugdeo, both making their solo debuts in Los Angeles, meditate on the meaning of objects in human life. Jugdeo's Surplus Room, in contrast, is a multi-channel video and sound installation that examines the production process in a range of settings, from the domestic to the labor-divided industrial. Though their methods diverge, the two artists both make compelling statements about producing art.
