More Flavor: City Gem Historic Theatre Tour and Forever Hollywood

Something about spending the morning taking a behind-the-scenes tour of the Egyptian Theatre, followed by a documentary celebrating the history of Hollywood glamour, practically screams "Mother's Day." Since its first red-carpet premiere (1922's Robin Hood), generations of fans, movie-makers, and stars have spent time in the Egyptian. With rare footage and voice-overs by everyone from Clint Eastwood to Rob Reiner, this program's combination of education and mom-friendly entertainment fully justifies the early alarm-clock setting. If your mom isn't a morning person, either, you can try tonight's 7:30pm screening of the 1965 über-classic The Sound of Music and its celebration of cool maternal types who can sing.
