A tremendously talented multi-instrumentalist and vocalist, Joe Jackson is too often overshadowed in the pop pantheon by his more angular countryman Elvis Costello — or (worse) remembered only for his debut single, "Is She Really Going Out With Him?" Having at various points in his prolific recording career traversed genres from swing (a full 15 years before Brian Setzer jumped, jived, and wailed) and salsa to R&B and reggae, Jackson is an eclectic stylist whose compositions never sound confused or overreaching. On the road in support of his latest studio effort, Rain, he's reunited with his new-wave bandmates Graham Maby and Dave Houghton, and is looking sharp as ever.
