Reading Book Soup & Vroman's present James Frey w/ Black Tide

Branded as the print world's Pinocchio after his addiction memoir A Million Little Pieces became a scapegoat for the industry, author James Frey survived a literary witch-burning and a swift drop from his publisher. Fortunately, the scribe rose from the ashes to pen a new "novel" (read: fiction) called Bright Shiny Morning. Tonight, Frey reads from his homage to LA (a city known for its forgiveness) along with friend and guest speaker Josh Kilmer-Purcell. If you haven't read I Am Not Myself These Days, Purcell's hilarious booze-and-pills recounting of his '90s Manhattan drag-queen/copywriter days, pick up a copy at the reading, along with his latest, Candy Everybody Wants. Metal rockers Black Tide make some noise afterward.
