More Flavor: Festival Joshua Tree Music Festival

Those who didn't get enough banging spoons and blazing temperatures during Coachella 2008 should take the 10 back east for more indie rock and experimental art. The Joshua Tree Roots Music Festival (Coachella's little sister) celebrates desert beats over a dance-oriented three-day run, with two stages alternating up-and-coming acts with increasingly bigger headliners. On the 2008 bill: Austin electro-rockers Ghostland Observatory, North Carolina Afrobeat ensemble Afromotive, Boulder hip-hopper Lynx, soul-infused San Francisco rocker Jethro Jeremiah, country crooner Amy Lavere, and reggae revelers Tribe-O.
