Long before Wim Wenders' 1999 documentary Buena Vista Social Club sparked a global obsession with Cuban music and culture, Los Angeles was home to a vibrant community of Cuban expats who infused the area with the magical, sophisticated air of their island nation. This year's celebration of the presencia Cubana en Los Angeles is a freeform, outdoor festival of authentic spicy food and spicier music from local groups Los Puros, LA Salsa Kids, the Echo Park Project, and the mysterious, uptempo Orquesta Charangoa.
