Sunday May 18 (7pm)
The Noisy People break all the rules of conventional music-playing: they blow on the wrong ends of their horns; they hit percussion instruments with vegetables; they soup up their violins and brass instruments, creating wild hybrids of traditional orchestral sounds. Tim Perkis is a member of the San Francisco-based improvisational music group, and his documentary Noisy People follows the avant-garde troupe for one year. Tonight, the film is co-presented by LA Filmforum and Cinefamily at the gorgeously remodeled Silent Movie Theatre. After the screening, several of the film's subjects perform live and host a Q&A session.
