This month's edition of Radio Free Silverlake's Let's Independent features three spotlight-deserving acts from the Southland. Three-piece Karabal Nightlife headline with harmony-laden indie-pop in the vein of Eels and Spoon. Lead singer Jesse Davis' thoughtful lyrics and careful arrangements drive the band's debut album, The Other Shore. Meanwhile, the Soft Hands trek up from Long Beach with Gang of Four-meets-Modern Lovers rock in tow, and Silverlake's own Savages round out the night with macabre folk rock.
