Note: On Tue May 27 (8pm) Green Umbrella presents Adès conducting original compositions along with the world premier of a commissioned video collaboration with Tal Rosner.
Thomas Adès is wildly popular in the UK's postmodern-opera/avant-garde classical scene, and he's still nowhere near 40. Tonight, Adès returns for another round of performances at Disney Hall, playing the harpsichord and taking the conductor's baton with the LA Chamber Orchestra. The program features works by French composer François Couperin (1668-1733) as well a few of Adès' Couperin-inspired original works, which evoke the Frenchman's sweetly saturated, stridently beautiful compositions. Upbeat Live also presents a free pre-concert lecture featuring composer and USC Thornton School of Music Professor Veronika Krausas.
