On his latest album, the coming-of-fame LP, The Singer, Faroe Islands folk rocker Teitur (pronounced tie-tor) declares, "I always had the voice, and now I am a singer." The singer/songwriter is already famous for marrying commerce and rock (he was voted both Best Male Singer at last year's Danish Music Awards and Businessman of the Year in his native Faroe Islands), and after stints supporting Rufus Wainwright, Aimee Mann, and John Mayer (all Teitur fans), he seems hungry for stateside success. Tonight, the crooner treats American audiences to selections from The Singer, a mellow, moody opus recorded on the estate of a 19th-century Swedish princess.
