Shortly before the Von Bondies released 2004's Pawn Shoppe Heart, Jack White famously unleashed some fury on frontman Jason Stollsteimer's face at a show in Detroit — not a good omen. The massive popularity of their single, "C'mon C'mon," was a lone bright spot during some hard years, during which the quartet lost its guitarist and two bassists, and Stollsteimer parted ways with his wife. But if the Bondies' recent EP is any indication, they've put all that behind them in favor of raucous, catchy garage rock. Opening for them at Safari Sam's tonight are New Zealand's Die! Die! Die!, and local acts the Shys and Io Echo.
