Heidi Duckler explores the roles played by the viewer, guest, and audience with a series of dance pieces in museum spaces (later works are planned for LACE and the Armory Center). Collage Dance Theatre is most often noted for its large-scale works, often occupying vast swaths of space within hotels, prisons, subway terminals, and newspaper factories, to name a few. In A Guide to an Exhibitionist, Duckler affords a more personal view of her work, guiding guests through the museum only 20 at a time. Relying on a quartet of dancers and multimedia projections, Exhibitionist offers a fine opportunity to experience CDT in an intimate, yet theatrically ripe environment.
