Installation artist and painter Amir H. Fallah finds intrigue in the ramshackle construction of boyhood clubhouses and other ill-designed, teetering structures. He tops those buildings with a favorite image of a prickly, green cactus in the paintings, drawings, and sculptures that make up his first solo exhibition, Pedestal, at Ojai's Nathan Larramendy Gallery. His work tends to showcase brightly colored landscapes and splintery, geometric shapes that intermix with the winding branches of potted plants. As part of the gallery's stable of artists, he balances exhibiting worldwide — most recently in Dubai — with managing the much-revered zine-turned-international-magazine that he co-founded at the tender age of 16, Beautiful/Decay.
