Russian-born artist Oksana Badrak creates worlds where disparate mediums and settings collide, merging traditional with modern, Eastern with Western, and so on. Drawing on her background in graphic design, Badrak's works are part digitally rendered imagery and part oil painting, which she then varnishes into single surfaces. In her most recent collection, Moon Over Drifters, Badrak continues to merge images from Russian iconography, cartoonishly sweet animals, and varying landscape settings into brilliantly colorful and moody pieces. One portion of the series even involves a visual narrative in which the artist's two dogs, Belka and Strelka, orbit the Earth as part of the Soviet space program in the 1950s.
