The writers draw two words at random at 8pm on Friday and hand their hastily written scripts off to the directors and actors at 8am on Saturday. At 8pm on Sunday, audiences crowd into the theater at LA Center Studios to see the (hopefully) finished shorts. Under these circumstances, you'd be forgiven for assuming the results might be clunkers. But after 24 smash installments of Instant Films, which have included participants who've since gone on to do great things, the happiest surprise is the consistent quality and hilarity (not always anticipated) of the finished program. Pay attention, though, because the audience votes for the winners at the post-screening cocktail party.
