Since its inception in 2002, the Rubberbandance Group has earned accolades from both street- and modern-dance aficionados. Now based in Montreal, founder and co-artistic director Victor Quijada cut his teeth in the hip-hop clubs of Los Angeles, while honing his skills as a performer under the instruction of LA icon Rudy Perez; he subsequently spent time with Twyla Tharp, Eliot Feld, and Les Grands Ballets Canadiens. With Rubberbandance, he fuses disparate styles through a hip-hop filter, and the result is an immediate and fresh take on contemporary dance.
