Film-school geeks (members A.J. Jackson and Aaron Sharp met as students at Chapman University) make good in Saint Motel. The retro rockers blend incisive guitar lines with soaring vocals in songs that shift just as the chorus starts to stick in your head. The band's vintage style is all smoking cigarettes and sun-faded vinyl; onstage, the charismatic four-piece never fails to entertain. Saint Motel's Wednesday-night show connects these Viper Room residents with fellow LA indie rockers United by Sound and the Cheat.
