It's got many meanings, but as far as the Mixed Roots Film & Literary Festival is concerned, everyone is free to define their own version of "mixed roots." The festival brings together filmmakers, spoken-wordsmiths, and performance artists who address the racial, linguistic, sexual, and political implications of a hybrid heritage. The festival coincides with the national commemoration of Loving Day, the anniversary of the Supreme Court decision affirming the right of interracial couples to marry.
