Tonight, Santa Barbara's Mad Caddies usher in the summer season with easygoing reggae vibes. Recalling Sublime with a darker edge, this five-piece knows how to lay down relaxed beats with just the right amount of swing. Vocalist Chuck Robertson's soulful delivery battles Ed Hernandez and Keith Douglas' blasting horns on the Caddies' harder tracks, but they all play nice on more mellow pieces like "Drinking for Eleven." Combining punk, rock, ska, and jazz, the Caddies' best songs are informed by multiple sources and teem with originality.
