Blame it on her traditional Southern upbringing, but Mariah Anne Johnson (born and raised in Arkansas) has an affinity for her own family history. The recent LA transplant regularly incorporates her memories, abstracted via lovely and disjointed narratives, into her illustrations, paintings, and fabric installations, the latter of which include sculptures of folded and wrapped linens the artist gathers from thrift stores.
