Though leg warmers and headbands have unsuccessfully struggled to break back onto the scene for years, Los Angeles trio Thailand brings '80s pop back to life with ease. Singer Marc Linquist's vocals are reminiscent of Space Oddity-era David Bowie, as he sings, "Come on, Tiger/ come have a vision/ a 20/20 vision vision," in a smoky, lackadaisical fashion. Before the headliners take the stage, local band Good on Paper play their upbeat pop rock to get everyone's spirits high. Sounding like the Strokes on a trip to the beach, the Soft Hands strum 16th notes with ferocity, after One Trick Pony use their violin-enforced folk rock to open the night.
