It's fitting that Domenic Priore is holding a reading on Vermont Avenue, just a few miles from the heart of the Sunset Strip. There, some of the most influential rock and folk acts of the '60s rose to fame before, according to Priore, the area's sonic fertility dried up. In Riot on Sunset Strip, he describes how the Doors, Love, Buffalo Springfield, and the Mamas and the Papas all sprung from a few clubs on that hallowed block. Priore's cred was proven with a previous tome about Brian Wilson's Smile and two David Bowie-hosted documentaries. This book's a hot property as well, even if you think he's wrong about the present-day state of the Strip.
