In Steve Allen Theater's latest production, Carny Trash, your fondest memories of days at the carnival with ma and pa are all fair game — cotton-candy pimps, con artists, Tilt-A-Whirls, and freaks. Billed as an "ex-carnie" confessional, the white-trash tell-all goes behind the sizzlers and ferris wheels to explore a subculture mired in sleaze, stoners, and questionable safety. Performer Aye Jay shares behind-the-scenes stories, songs, and mechanical nightmares of his time on the circuit — it's way less fun than you might imagine.
