After selling out the Ford last summer, the TAIKOPROJECT drum spectacular arrives again, bringing the tradition of Japanese taiko drumming to a new generation. For the uninitiated, the incredibly high-paced rhythmic onslaught — carried out on beautifully polished wood drums the size of oil barrels — must be seen (and heard) to be believed. TAIKOPROJECT brings together taiko groups from across the state for this year's show, which includes the first and oldest American taiko group, San Francisco Taiko Dojo, and its leader, Seiichi Tanaka, the "father of taiko in America." – Jessica Jardine
