Film The Muppet Movie (1979)

If you've always wanted to sit in a theater watching a film in which puppets sit in a theater watching a film about the making of the film they're watching, tonight's screening of The Muppet Movie can finally satisfy that desire. Under-appreciated and under-sung (the soundtrack is long out-of-print), Jim Henson's 1979 masterpiece (sorry, Dark Crystal fans) is an origin myth, a pseudo-documentary, a musical, a puppet show, a road movie, and a cautionary tale, all with a dense meta-narrative. Hilarious and inspiring, The Muppet Movie provides all the life lessons any young frog needs to get out there and make a name for himself.
