- Darker My Love's overdriven soul isn't the most original thing in the world — imagine the Jesus & Mary Chain channeled by the Brian Jonestown Massacre — but give the LA-based band credit for creative album promotion (lucky attendees of several recent shows walked away with a gratis special-edition 7-inch). It plays tonight with Pitchfork-anointed buzz band Crystal Antlers, a group that takes a free-form, orchestral approach to psyched-out indie, layering sizzling rockers with trippy, space-obsessed interludes. Hot off the Fuck Yeah tour with Matt & Kim, Team Robespierre, and the Death Set, among others, the Cali five promise a soaring, sludgy set. – Max Goldberg
