Big Kids/Little Kids is the brainchild of curator John Freeborn, author of a book of the same name that chronicles the graffiti-inspired art movement that emerged in Philadelphia in the mid-'90s. Taken directly from the pages of Freeborn's book, the exhibition — now on its fourth stop in a tour across the US — features drawings by the mavericks of do-it-yourself public promotion, including Shepard Fairey, Andrew Jeffrey Wright, Clare Rojas, and Jesse Goldstein, among others. While their countercultural methods have become conventional practices over the years, their loud aesthetics and irreverent style show that these artists still know how break the rules.
